iPhone app in store now

Friday, January 29th, 2010

This morning I received a very welcome email from apple letting me know that our app has been approved and is in the store now.

To find it, just search for “flukle” on the app store or follow this link.

This is the first version of the app so is very basic at the moment, it just allows you to login and snap a photo or choose one from your roll and upload to the site. The second version will have the website built in so you can see your live stream, comment on people’ photos etc – one step at a time though!

Obviously I would appreciate any reviews or star ratings on the app store – I shall purchase you a lager in return if your ever in Manchester!

Site tweaks + iPhone app news

Tuesday, January 12th, 2010

Based on feedback and beta testing we have been working on fixing a few things on Flukle this week :

  1. Pagination fixed on homepage stream – limited to 15 pages now
  2. Pagination in private messaging added
  3. Welcome note added with links what to do when a user first signs up (some people were confused)
  4. Sharing widget and HTML code for images added to photo display pages
  5. Avatars linked to public profile page
  6. Private messaging, sent items ordered correctly.
  7. 7. “Your Profile” tab now shows your comments and photo comments with ability to delete them.

We still have more things on our to-do list but we’re getting there, a live stream of all users on the site and the ability to upload a photo via web cam were the two most requested features so they are being built also.

Our iPhone app was submitted yesterday so fingers crossed that should be available soon.

1st day of testing

Wednesday, January 6th, 2010

Yesterday I mailed 1000 people who were on our list from the holding page and also let my friends on twitter know about the site so we could get some people on here to do real testing. It proved to be a really handy exercise, it goes to show that no matter how much you think something is ready you can never be sure untill a group of real people get their hands on it!

Some stats from our first day of beta testing :

  • 260 users registered
  • 460 images uploaded
  • 1400 visits
  • 13,000 page views
  • 284MB site bandwidth
  • 600MB Amazon S3 Bandwidth

The experience has been really helpfull and thrown up lots of glitches that need fixing, usability features that need adding etc so we will be working on these over the next week or so before I do some more promotion.
